October Contractors have until October 29, 2015 to submit their prequalification bids on this scheme. The scope includes extending the existing runway by 900 meters in addition to the construction of a new apron, terminal and car park, and the supply and installation of an air traffic control tower. Contractors that have expressed an interest in the project and which are currently preparing prequalification responses include Hilalco, Darwish Engineering and Saif Bin Darwish. All three contractors' headquarters are located in Abu Dhabi, although the bulk of Saif Bin Darwish's aggregate crushing operations are located in Fujairah. Other firms interested in the project are understood to include local/Australian Habtoor Leighton and UK's Laing O'Rourke. - 20th
August Bid submission is in progress for this development. It is understood that Hilal Bil Badi & Partners Contracting (HILALCO) and Tav Construction are among the bidders for the main contract. The main contractor is expected to be awarded by December 2017 and the project is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2019. The airport expansion is being handled by Abu Dhabi Airports Co. (ADAC) and Fujairah International Airport. - 30th
August Client has invited firms to bid by September 17, 2017 for the runway and air traffic control tower package. It was earlier reported that the prequalification process for the contract was under way. It is understood the airport�s original expansion plan includes extending the existing runway by 900 metres to the east, to address safety concerns due to the airport�s proximity to the Hajar mountains. The existing runway at the airport is 45 metres wide and 3.75 kilometres long, with three turning loops and a taxiway. The current scope includes the construction of a new taxiway and the installation of airfield lighting and navigational aid systems (Navaids), in addition to a new runway.
