SeptemberClient is in the process of tendering the main construction contract on this project.

OctoberThe Red Sea Development Company (TRSDC) has awarded the design contract for the international airport serving its tourism development on the west coast of Saudi Arabia to the UK’s Foster + Partners. Canada’s WSP is working as a sub consultant to Foster + Partners for the engineering. The Red Sea Project airport has been designed so that passengers can access the resorts on the development as seamlessly and as efficiently as possible. The airport is due for completion in 2022 and is expected to serve an estimated 1 million tourists a year with a schedule of domestic and international flights, and a peak of 900 passengers an hour. On an annual basis, it is forecast to serve the 1 million annual tourists and visitors expected by 2030.

MarchBids are currently under evaluation for the main contract on this scheme. A contract for the airside package of the airport is expected to be awarded soon. The contract for the landside package on the project is expected to be awarded in the second quarter of 2020.
